This site has been created as a direct result in the interest generated from sightings of the red squirrels which frequent our garden usually from the middle
of August to early October. The Squirrels themselves are attracted to our mature Beech tree which produces an abundance of Beech nuts for the squirrels to feed upon..
In November 2006 we decided to install a Squirrel feeder on to the Beech tree in the hope that the Squirrels would visit all year round.
The feeder was procured from the Heighley Gate garden centre. We accepted that it may
take some time for the Squirrels to find and use the feeder and eventually one was recently sighted lifting the lid on the feeder and helping itself to the mixed
seeds within. Since then the feeder has become a regular attraction for the local red squirrels, and has provided us with the opportunity to both photograph as well video them.
